SALE OF INVASIVE EXOTIC [NON-NATIVE] PEST PLANTS
AFNN includes the latest Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council (FLEPPC) lists of invasive exotic pest plants in every issue of the Native Plant & Service Directory. These plants threaten public health, our economy, and our natural environment. Millions of taxpayer dollars are spent every year to eradicate invasive plant species.

AFNN specifically requests that members do not sell any plants which appear on the FLEPPC Category 1 list. Furthermore, we strongly encourage members to phase out and not sell plants which appear on the FLEPPC Category II list.

More information on pest plants and their negative impact on natural communities can be found online at www.fleppc.org and in the excellent handbook by Ken Langeland and Kathy Burks [deceased], Identification and Biology of Non-Native Plants in Florida’s Natural Areas, available through UF/IFAS at http://plants.ifas.ufl.edu/node/646 or toll free 800-226-1764. The first edition can be downloaded for free online at http://www.fleppc.org/ID_book.htm
